(My Fall Break)

*Kyoshi and renshi are high ranks in our karate system. The highest ranking sensei in the system in the U.S. was there as well. I was able to take classes with him and it was amazing.

** The nunchaku and sai are Okinawan weapons. (You may know the nunchaku as “num-chucks”. That’s the silly American pronunciation). The weapons that Elektra (Jennifer Garner) uses in the movies Daredevil and Elektra are sai. Bunkai are basically self defense techniques derived from the system’s traditional kata, or patterns of movements/techniques.

Another great thing happened at the karate camp—many of the black belts there have belts and uniforms with their names embroidered on them in katakana… and I could read them!!! ^_^

There was a gi (uniform) left at the end of the day and somebody asked whose it was. I looked at it and sounded it out—“Ru..zi…Ruzzi…. It’s Kyoshi Luzzi’s!” No sooner did the words come out of my mouth than Kyoshi Luzzi walked over to claim his uniform.

So my fall break was pretty awesome. :)

It is exciting to be able to read things in Japanese now, isn't it?

I like them too.

Versailles has two other videos out, if you want to see those too. (One of them is rather silly since Kamijo sings almost all in English.) I like Kamijo's voice too. He uses a kind of deep falsetto for Versailles. His regular singing voice is much higher, if you watch any videos from his old band, Lareine.

You probably relaxed, though. That’s what break is supposed to be for!
